Do you want to visit our lovely parkrun? Great! Everyone involved behind the scenes at Zuiderpark parkrun is a volunteer, and unfortunately we simply don’t have the time to answer detailed questions regarding transport, hotels and logistics, but we hope that you can find links below that will help you with these enquiries. Good luck!
Do you have any planned cancellations?
If we have a cancellation, it will be in several places:
- on our news page
- the volunteer roster will show "no event"
- on the parkrun list of cancellations
- on our social media (Facebook/Instagram)
Occasionally we have to cancel last minute due to weather or another event in the park which we didn't know about. If this happens, we email that week's volunteers and post on social media asap.
Will you be running on the special days (New Year/Whitsun)?
This depends on the availability of volunteers and the park. When we know (yes or no), it will be posted on the Dutch special events page: https://www.parkrun.co.nl/special-events/
If it's not listed there, we haven't decided yet!
Can you recommend a hotel?
There are many hotels in The Hague, to suit every budget. If you are making a weekend of it, we would recommend staying near the city centre. Use google maps, tripadvisor, booking.com or your favourite tourist website to find somewhere. There are also several parkrun tourist Facebook groups which you can search.
How do I get to parkrun from XXX?
Directions to parkrun are on the course page in both Dutch and English. From the city centre, it's tram 9. For further planning, google maps will give you an idea of routes and there are several transport apps in the Netherlands. e.g. 9292, NS (trains) and HTM (trams/buses). There is more info on denhaag.nl.
Are there toilets?
Yes, near the start/finish - see the course page, which is in both Dutch and English.
Do you go to a cafe?
Yes, the Sportcampus cafe is usually open from 9am and Parkoers opens at 10am. See the course page.
Are there showers?
No
What is the course like?
See the course page!
Can I volunteer?
We are a small parkrun and as such do not require some of the optional roles (e.g. English-only run reports, token sorters). We always require the essential roles e.g. marshals, time keeper. E-mail us if you have a non-runner in your group who can help with these essential tasks! (zuiderpark@parkrun.com)
Do you have a pop-up sign/selfie frame?
No. There is a sign at the entrance to the park with the name on, as well as on top of the swimming pool and various noticeboards around the park.
Is there somewhere to leave my stuff?
You can leave bags etc near the finish, at your own risk.
I'm celebrating a milestone, can I get a shout out?
Yes; the easiest thing is to chat to the Run Director on the day (before the briefing!).
